The Alvarez DY 69 was similar to the DY 61 Signature Standard model, except with a spruce top and lace-wood mahogany back & sides. The DY-69 pickguard is clear, the Bridge is mounted "belly up," and mahogany back & sides qualifiy as "lacewood" an unusual tight curly grain pattern distinguished from "quilted" or "burled."

Where to start, this is an amazing guitar I've owned since 1995, have not had to do anything but change strings in all those years!! Each year it agrees the sound just gets better and better, the playability is awesome and very fast, the binding had turned a real smokey yellow which mashes it look better every year also I'm never giving mine up, when I go I'll leave it to my daughter's to pass down

Been playing since 1968. Own Alvarez Yairi DY69, Taylor 810CE and 6 strats. This DY69 is still my favorite guitar of all. Sounds better than most guitars costing 2-3 times as much. You can't help but smile every time you pick it up to play. It's like a great old friend. Never let it go.
