The inspiration for this Chinese made guitar comes from the pre-world war II Martin dreadnoughts. The Blueridge BR-40 dreadnought acoustic guitar has a solid Sitka spruce top, mahogany back, sides, and headstock overlay. The body has 5-ply binding. The bracing pattern is said to be similar to the pre-war style used by Martin.

The guitar has a traditional dovetail neck joint, slim mahogany neck, adjustable truss rod, and butterbean-button, nickel-plated Kluson-style tuning machines but with an updated mechanism for modern precision and feel. The rosewood fingerboard has mother of pearl inlays. The bridge is also rosewood.

Retail price is around $400 (in 2007).
