Information:

Richard Mermer Jr. began making and repairing fretted instruments in 1983  - after finishing at the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery. After leaving Roberto-Venn, Mermer worked for Fretted Instruments International (the parent company to Oscar Schmidt Autoharps and Washburn Guitars) and Philip Kubicki Guitar Technology of Santa Barbara, California. After setting up his own workshop Mermer made around 12 to 16 instruments per year - typically acoustic guitars. Mermer was also the editior of Guitarmaker: The Journal of Fretted Instrument Construction and Repair, produced by the Association of Stringed Instrument Artisans.

As of 2017 Mermer stopped production, except for the occasional ‘specialty instrument and sold off the majority of his tonewoods and inlay material.
