Stick Enterprises was founded in 1974 by Emmett and Yuta Chapman near Los Angeles. Jazz guitarist Emmett Chapman developed a two handed tapping technique in the late 1960s which led to his invention of the Chapman Stick - a 10 or 12 stringed wide necked instrument typically played by tapping the strings with both hands.
