Canadian guitar builder Alex Cisky started Zachary Handcrafted Guitars as a reaction to the mass-produced, machine-made instruments dominating the music stores. He reasoned that making guitars entirely by hand would give his guitars the human element consisting of irregularity, variability, inconsistency and soul. It is a marketing strategy that differentiates Zachary Guitars from most other guitar brands

He does not necessarily select beautifully figured, and flawless tone-woods, instead Alex looks for interesting pieces regardless of blemishes or imperfections. For example Alex has made guitar bodies from pine Ikea worktops and chopping boards.

Zachary guitars have a headstock desgin that is economical but also looks cool.
