Production of the CONVERTIBLE MODEL 6199/SAL SALVADOR MODEL began in 1955 and ended in 1968. It had single cutaway hollow maple body with two f holes, with a spruce top, gold pickguard with Gretsch logo, bound body. The neck was maple with a 21-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl humptop block inlays. Hardware was an adjustable rosewood bridgewith G logo tailpiece, bound peghead with Gretsch logo inlay, 3-a-side Grover Imperial tuners, gold hardware.
It had a single DeArmond pickup (with the adjustable pole pieces) at the neck position, volume/tone controls mounted on the pickguard. It came in Bamboo Yellow and Ivory top finishes with Copper Mist and Sunburst back and neck colour options.

I've got one of these that I paid $150 for in 1973. I guess it is worth more than that now! I tried to upload a couple of pics, but I don't see them here yet.
