The Cort G290 was introduced in 2001, as the top of the range of G-series Stratocaster style electrics. The G290 had a light swamp ash body with carved quilted maple top, bird's eye maple neck, Seymour Duncan TB4 & Vintage staggered HSS pickups, Sperzel Trim-Lok tuners and a Wilkinson VS50 II Tremolo. In 2005 the pickups were changed to EMG SA single coils and an EMG 89 humbucker and the bridge changed to a CFA-III tremolo. The nut was also changed from a Wilkinson roller nut to a Graph Tech Trem nut. Around 2011 this model was renamed / replaced by the Cort G-Custom model which has the same specifications.
