Danelectro guitars always had an unusual look - and this model is a faithful re-issue of the 1956 Danelectro guitar with all the quirkiness. The orginals were cheaply made: masonite tops on a wooden frame with vinyl edging: and this re-issue has similar budget construction. These instruments were treasured by many musicians for their unique sound.
The 56-U2 re-issue has a Masonite top with plywood center, a maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, single volume and tone controls for the 2 overwound lipstick tube pickups. The chrome bridge is fixed with adjustable saddles
