Made around 2002 the Epiphone Beast FX (aka Xplorer FX) has a modified explorer shaped body and all the other features of the Xplorer model but with two effects units built in.The chorus effect uses an IC known as the "Bucket Brigade". The distortion effect provides an effect ranging from a blues clip to a full-on overdrive with the turn of the gain knob. These effects have true bypass circuits to avoid "tone sucking" when not in use.
The Xplorer FX has two covered "Ultra-Hot" E-Series humbuckers, with master tone and volume controls, as well as a three-way pickup selector, a gain knob for the distortion circuit and two mini switches which turn on the distortion and chorus effects.

EPIPHONE BEAST FX (XPLORER FX) reviewed by Floyd Benson
Floyd Benson
I have a collection of about 13 Guitars ranging from a 2021 Gibson Les Paul Standard 60s to a 2020 Squier Telecaster with anything in between from a James Hetfield snakebyte to a Fender Tash sultana strat. The Epi Beast FX has the best action of all my guitars with a super thin shredders neck and it has super hot pickups. The built in effects leave a lot to be desired but can be useful if your paying clean and need some moderate grit to change to in the middle of a song without messing with a pedal. The Chorus effect is a bit more useful and has a pleasing tone but not as good as a dedicated pedal. I personally don't use them much. The overall sound is what makes this guitar shine both with and without distortion. clear as a bell and super tight distortion when you need it. I did not expect much from this guitar when I bought it as I got it on Facebook from a guy who did not know what he had. I pick this thing up to record heavy stuff more than any other guitar now. I would value this guitar somewhere in the 600 to 700 dollar range. And it may have some collector value in the future due to its odd ball shape and added features that most guitars don't have. Also Its an epi made in Korea which in my exp those are usually better quality than the Chinese made ones. If your looking for a solid Metal guitar that has some originality to it you cant go wrong with this AXX. I took one star away for a bolt on neck and it has bad neck dive due to where the strap buttons are placed. Other than that its a good guitar.
