The first Eclipses produced had a arched top Telecaster body shape but were discontinued in the late 1980. The ESP Eclipse reappeared in 1995 in its current Les Paul shape. The body shape had to be changed in the North American market following a lawsuit from Gibson Guitars, and now have a wider cutaway and only 3 knobs: 1 bridge pickup volume knob, 1 neck pickup volume knob, and 1 tone control knob.
