The ESP E.X.P. (EXPLORER) was made between 1995 and 2000. The ESP E.X.P. was a close copy of the Gibson Explorer, except with 2 EMG-81 humbuckers, and came in black or white finish only. It had a mahogany body, bolt-on quartersawn maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, 22 extra jumbo frets and black hardware. Possibly for legal reasons the ESP EXP was soon discontinued and replaced by the ESP EX series. The ESP EX had a sufficiently different design with more pointed edges and headstock shape, to avoid any legal problems.
