Fender first produced Rosewood Telecasters as custom models in 1968: George Harrison used a custom Rosewood Telecaster on the recording of the Let it Be Album. The production model of the Fender Rosewood Telecaster was introduced in 1969 - and featured a rosewood body and neck. From 1971 to 1972 it was offered with a lighter, hollow chambered body. Large numbers were not produced in this first production run from 1969 to 1972.
The Rosewood Telecaster was later reissued as a Japanese made model in the 1980s and as a Fender Custom Shop model.
