1994 to 1996

Fenix guitars were made by the Korean Young Chang company. Young Chang are best known for their pianos, but they also made guitars in 1980s and 1990s (including some Squiers for Fender). While most Fenix guitars were direct copies of Fender and Gibson instruments, their Mona Lisa (ML-40) model was more original.

The Fenix ML-40 was the top of the Fenix electric guitar line. It had an ergonomically designed soft maple body with glued in maple neck and 22 fret rosewood fingerboard. Pickups were two exposed Seymour Duncan humbuckers (splittable) with two tone and one voume controls. The hardware was gold plated, with a locking nut and Floyd Rose Tremolo (by Takeuchi).

The body is unusual with a long upper horn (a bit like a Parker Fly?) to counter-balance the lack of a lower horn. In the area where the lower horn would normally be the body is carved out , this is also where the pickup selector switch is fitted.

Finish options were natural or black
