The body is ash or soft maple. The bolt-on neck is Canadian hard rock maple, with an ebony fingerboard and a 34 inch scale length. Machine heads, pickups (ARSX4) and tailpiece are all made by Altlansia and finished in gold. Controls are one volume and one tone, I believe there are also individual switches for the four single string pickups. Finish is polyurethane.
Ruby Amp in a Magic 8-ball
The Ruby Amp is a great little battery powered solidstate practice amp. The design is based on the Little Gem design which in turn comes from the Smokey Amp designed by Dave Stork on www.blueguitar.org. The design uses relatively few components and is a good DIY project. Cigar box guitar maker J.K. built a Ruby Amp but found himself hunting for a suitable enclosure for it.
D'Addario string factory
This is one of those How-It's-Made factory tour films, which shows how guitar strings are made in the D'Addario factory. It also shows the quality control procedures used to test that the strings are fit for their purpose. The strings are stretched and twisted in a medieval torture chamber until they break. I never knew there was such a thing as a ball-end-sorter.

JACKSON JSX-94 Zell
Dark, metallic blue body. I use Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings on it. Everything is basically stock. Rescued it from a pawnshop for $140. The only problem it had when bought was a slight issue with the Floyd-Rose bridge.
Lollar foils the Pickup Pirates
Jason Lollar is the author of the DIY pickup maker's bible "Basic Pickup Winding and Complete Guide to Making Your Own Pickup Winder". This book helped kickstart the custom pickup industry. It has been out of print for a number of years, assuming a mythical status. Secondhand copies have been selling for close to $300.
Rare UK guitars found in basement
A collection of twelve rare early British-made electric guitars has been found in a Cheltenham basement of a house. The Supersound guitars were made by during a short partnership between Jim Burns and Alan Wootton from 1958 and 1959.
The collection includes both single and double cutaway solid body electric guitars and basses with Gibson influenced necks and headstock shapes.
