Orange Amplifier in limited edition 2009 white finish

Tradtitonally the unique selling point of Orange amps has been their bright orange finish. But this unusual styling, setting them apart from other amplifiers of the 1970s, is not to the taste of some guitarists.

Canadian guitar builder Alex Cisky started Zachary Handcrafted Guitars as a reaction to the mass-produced, machine-made instruments dominating the music stores. He reasoned that making guitars entirely by hand would give his guitars the human element consisting of irregularity, variability, inconsistency and soul.

The Westone Spectrum II had a solid alder body with a one piece maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. The nut was graphite. The scale length was 25.5 inches and it had 22 frets.

The Westone brand began with the Japanese Matsumoku instrument manufacturers. Matsumoku started out in 1951 as a sewing machine maker but moved into electric guitar building in the 1960s. By the 1980s Matsumoku had gained a reputation as an important exporter of electric guitars, producing instruments for other brands such as Aria, Epiphone, Vantage and Vox.

Introduced in 2009, the Orange Tiny Terror Hand Wired Edition is all UK manufactured, point to point, all hand wired  version of the 15W Tiny Terror. It has high specification transformers, ‘carbon comp resistors’ and ‘mustard capacitors’ and  comes in a special leather padded gig bag.

Siegmund Suspense Guitar

The Siegmund Suspense is a hollow-body electric guitar. Chris Siegmund designed the Suspense to reduce feedback problems often associated with amplified hollow bodied guitars. The Suspense has floating braces suspended inside a hollow body which support the wrap-around bridge (the bridge is not attached to the top like on most guitars).

Make a LEGO pickup winder

These are two examples of pickup winders made out of LEGO. They use the motorised Mindstorms , NXT type components to spin the pickup bobbin. I haven't seen any LEGO winders with an automatic travese mechanism yet, but it won't be long before someone builds one.

The first is a pickup unwinder, for despooling a broken pickup, by Scorpion097 .

FENDER SJ-65 S

The SJ-65 S is a super jumbo shaped acoustic. It has a solid spruce top with flamed maple back, sides and neck. Finish is natural gloss. Neck and body are bound. The fingerboard is rosewood with split block position markers. Scale length is  25.6 inches. Machineheads are gold die-cast units. The SJ 65 S was discontinued in 2002.
