GIBSON produced the FLYING V BASS between 1978 and 1982 - making around 300 to 400 instruments in this period. Most of these were finished in black but some were alpine white, silverburst, or transparent blue.
In 2011, Gibson re-released the Flying V bass but it was discontinued again in late 2012. The reissues had mahogany bodies, short scale length (30.5 inches) and were finished in cherry.
