GIBSON produced the non-reverse body FIREBIRD V between 1965 and 1969. Gibson introduced these "non-reverse" Firebids after failing to achieve commercial success with the original unusual reverse-body 1963 design. Finish colors were sunburst or Gibson custom colors.
For their Les Paul and SG line, Gibson used the terms Junior, Special, Standard and Custom to indicate added features. For the Firebird Gibson used the Roman numerals I, III, V and VII to denote the level of luxury and features.
