Richard Thompson first found fame as a teenage years founding member of 1960's pioneering folk-rockers Fairport Convention. Since then he has worked in a duo with his then-wife, Linda Thompson, then over 20 years as a solo artist, also scoring films. Richard Thompson's body of work includes over 40 albums.

Thompson was recently named by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the Top 20 Guitarists of all-time (he sneaked in at number 19!). He has recieved both an Ivor Novello Award for Songwriting and the 2006 BBC Lifetime Achievement Award.
