This article is about a guy from the Netherlands who decided to build himself a MusicMan -type bass humbucker. These humbuckers differ from guitar humbuckers in that they don’t have any baseplates and don’t use a bar magnet with steel pole pieces.

The article covers the process of working out the pickup design and obtaining the materials (fibreboard for the pickup bobbins, pickup magnets and pickup wire). The most interesting part is the actual winding technique, after some false starts and broken wires he decided on using a hand drill, counting each turn (he must be a patient guy).
