Ibanez first introduced the AW70 in the late 1970s as part of their Artwood acoustic series. These 1970s AW70 dreadnoughts were made in Japan and had German spruce tops, mahogany back & sides, rosewood pickguard and ebony fingerboard. A 12 string version was also available as the AW75.
The current Ibanez AW70 has a solid Sitka spruce top and is made in China. Available in natural high gloss finish (with a black pickguard) or black high gloss finish (with a tortoiseshell pickguard).
