Gene Autry ordered the very first Martin D-45 in 1933. Autry's D-45 was one of only 91 D-45s made before to World War II, you can still see it in Gene Autry's Western Heritage Museum in Los Angeles.

Over 60 years later, in 1994, Martin produced a limited run of 66 D-45s replicating the Autry's original guitar. They all had their sound hole labels signed by Gene Autry and C.F. Martin IV.
