MARTIN made the M-36 between 1978 and 1996. They were then discontinued for a while before being brought back into regular production around 2006. The Martin M-36 started life as the Martin M-35 model but the model name was changed to M-36 after only 26 M-35s had been made. The Martin M-36 has an M-size (0000) body, Indian rosewood back and sides, Sitka spruce top, white binding, 28-style sound hole rosette, rosewood bridge, bound ebony fingerboard and tortoiseshell pickguard. The body is gloss body finished with a vintage toner on top. The bound peghead is rosewood veneered with gold decal, but some early models had an unbound headstock.
