There are quite a few guitar models listed in the guitar-list.com database. I thought it would be useful to see how many there are in each category, using the IBM ManyEyes visualization tools. The size of each circle is the number of different models of that brand name. You can click on the links below to explore the diagrams for each type of guitar.

• electric guitar brands
• acoustic guitar brands
• bass guitar brands

For electric guitars the most prolific manufacturers are Gibson, Fender, Ibanez and Dean. For acoustic guitars its Martin, Gibson, Epiphone, Ovation and Yamaha. For bass guitars Fender, Ibanez, Dean and Warwick seem to have the most models.

This is based on the guitars we have on the database so far, there are probably lots of others out there. If you are a registered user you can add models to the database and you can add information about models that are already there.
