12AT7 (ECC81) vacuum tube

The 12AT7 is dual triode with gain of 70. It was the first double triode with noval socket and was originally designed by Valvo / Philips in 1951 for radio-frequency applications. Because it was used by Fender in many of its popular push-pull guitar amps as the phase-splitter section, it became a common in guitar amplifiers.

EL84 (6BQ5) vacuum tube

The EL84 is a miniature power pentode, first manufactured in the early 1950s by Valvo / Philips. It was used in the Vox AC-30 guitar amplifier. More recently it has been manufactured in Russia, China and Slovakia. It is known as the 6BQ5 in the USA.

EL34 (6CA7) audio power pentode

The EL34 is an audio power pentode vacuum tube. It was first made in the 1950s by Philips and later became popular after it was used in Marshall guitar amplifiers in the 1960s. Lately it is made in Russia, China, and Slovakia. In the USA these tubes might be labelled 6CA7 (although some 6CA7 tubes are beam-power tetrodes, not pentodes).

12AX7 preamplifier tube (ECC83)

The 12AX7 is the most common preamplifier tube used in guitar amps, high-end audio and professional music equipment. It is a dual triode, with gain of 100, it is still manufactured in Russia and Slovakia. Its European name is ECC83.
