To celebrate the new millennium, Takamine unveiled the LTD 2000 ($1,899).  The background to the design of this guitar was to recreate a moment in time, in a sense to make time stand still. The layout of the intricate design around the sound hole and across the fret board is based on the constellations of Orion and the Big Dipper and how they were oriented in the Northern Hemisphere at midnight on January 2000. This acoustic-electric cutaway boasts an elaborate rosette with laser-cut inlays that depict the stellar constellations. The celestial theme is echoed in more stellar inlays that begin at the headstock with the North Star and weave along the fretboard in maple inlays finally connecting to the rosette. Combined with this is a unique olive leaf design which sits at the base of the sound hole - this uses Jacaranda, Padauk, Ovangkol and Maple wood inlays with the number "2000" nestled into the desin.

The LTD 2000 has a solid-spruce top with X bracing, a mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard, rosewood back and sides, gold tuners with pearloid buttons, and a gloss polyurethane finish. The onboard, active electronics are Takamine's Graph-X system featuring the Takamine DSI² preamp2
