Kope Veneman founded the Kapa brand in 1962 - the Kapa name was derived from the intials of his family. Kapa owned a music shop in Hyattsville, Maryland in the USA, before starting to make his own instruments in the period 1962 to 1970 . Veneman, who was a Dutch immigrant, used imported Hofner necks and hardware from Germany on the Kapa guitars. Later models used some Japanese parts.

This is a Santa Cruz Model F acoustic guitar. This model F has a cutaway body with sitka spruce top, East Indian rosewood sides and back, mahogany neck, body has 16" lower bout and grained ivoroid body bindings, ebony bridge, bevelled and polished tortoiseshell pickguard.
OAHU MODEL 68K and 69K DELUXE JUMBO #unknown
An Oahu 69K deluxe jumbo sized acoustic, made in 1935. These were the top of the Oahu range at the time, with quality woods (spruce top and Brazilian rosewood back and sides) highly decorated with an abalone rosette, abalone body binding and a rosewood fingerboard had a vine inlay. The inlaid headstock was standard style (non-slotted).

This Oahu 65M Hawaiian guitar was made by Stromberg-Voisinet (later Kay) in the mid 1930s Chicago for distribution by the Oahu Publishing company. It was in good condition when Jake got it, he only had to change out the bakelite bridge pins for ebony ones.

Harry G Stanley established the Oahu Publishing Company in the 1930s. Oahu brand instuments were made by a number of manufacturers including Kay (Harmony, Valco) and Rickenbacker. The brand originated in the era when Hawaiian music was fashionable, and they originally produced Hawaiian style guitars and amplifiers.
ALVAREZ 5032 TIMBER RIDGE #69740
This is an Alvarez Acoustic guitar, model 5032. It was bought around 1994. Condition is very good. The label says "Silver Anniversary" which possibly means the guitar was made in 1990 - when the Alvarez brandname celebrated its silver anniversary. The BlueBook of acoustic guitars, however, says that this model was introduced in 1994 and discontinued in 1998.
