TAYLOR T5 SERIES

Taylor introduced its T5 series in 2005. The Taylor T5 guitars are electric/acoustic hybrids, designed to save players changing instruments between songs and lugging multiple instruments to gigs. The T5 is also desgined to work well with both acoustic and electric amplifiers: plug into an acoustic amp (or direct into the PA system) for clear tones; plug into an electric amp for clean jazz /country tones or overdriven blues/rock sounds.

The T5 uses three pickups – a stacked humbucker in the bridge position, a hidden humbucker in the fretboard at the neck joint, and a Taylor Expression System sensor inside the body,  between the saddle and the tail. The onboard preamp is controlled by three small knobs, one for volume, the other two for active boost and bass/treble cut. A five-position switch toggles among the various pickup combinations and wide spectrum of electo-acoustic sounds.

TAYLOR T5 CUSTOM

The Taylor T5 Custom (introduced in 2005) is a hollow bodied electro-acoustic hybrid. The first T5 Customs had a spruce top as standard with optional flamed maple top (extra $500) or koa top (extra $700) - but the current model has a koa top. The T5 Custom has a three-pickup setup with an acoustic body sensor, a concealed neck humbucker, and a visible bridge humbucker. Controls are five-way pickup switching and onboard tone controls, giving players access to the full range of the T5 Custom's electric/acoustic tones.
