VOX manufactured the STARSTREAM (model V269)between 1967 and 1968. The Starstream had a unique teardrop shaped body but the electronics were even more unsual: with a built in E-tuner, distortion booster, treble and bass booster, wah-wah and repeat percussion effect - all powered by a 9V battery accessed through a circular sna-on pad at the back of the body. Pickups were two Vox Ferro-Sonic single coil units. Also available as a 12-string model the V270.
Vox issued a Starstream Type 1 model in 2016 - with some echos of the original Starstream - the new model has a teardrop shaped inner body and lots of onboard electronics!
