Information

Finish is highly polished sunburst polyester. The headstock is black fading into clear for the remainder of the neck. There is a mother of pearl crown inlay on the headstock and mother of pearl dot neck markers.

The construction is similar to a Gibson 335 semi acoustic. The body front and back were made from 6 layer plywood, with sycamore outer surface. This plywood was pressed into the arched shape. A central solid block helps to support the neck.  Body depth is 1.75 inches, maximum width 16 inches.

The bolt-on neck is made from a lamination of 2 sycamore pieces around a central mahogany plank. There is a U shaped aluminium truss rod channel, with an adjustable steel truss rod (access to the truss rod adjustment is via a plate at the headstock end). The fingerboard is rosewood. The scale length is , and the neck has 21 frets.

The bridge is heavy chrome plated tun-o-matic style, with a stop tailpiece.Black Wilson logo on the tailpiece. Black scratchplate with Wilson in white lettering.

Machineheads are chrome plated Schaller precision, enclosed units. The SAF 2 has 2 Schaller pickups, with chrome shell and hard rubber surrounds. The magnets are individually adjustable. The pickups have slide screw adjusters for tilt and height.

Controls were: 3-way pickup selector, volume and individual tone controls for each pickup. 

The model sold for £73 when new.
Also available in a left handed configuration, with model name SAF 2 LH.
