Alembic has always been a company with a no endorsement policy. Famous players have always had to pay for their own instruments. Alembic has made exceptions to this rule for Stanley Clarke and Mark King. Stanley Clarke was given a specially inlaid instrument to celebrate their 30 years long collaboration. Mark King, in 1986, received two 34"-scale Series 2 basses and then ordered two more in identical woods with 32" scale. It is no surprise then that the Alembic Signature Series consists of Mark King and Stanley Clarke models only. These basses are custom versions of the Alembic Series II bass - the Stanley Clarke model is a short scale length version.

 | ALEMBIC Stanley Clarke (SCSSB)ALEMBIC instroduced the Artist Signature Series Stanley Clarke model in the 1980s. It is an Artist Signature Series model based on a short scale length Series II model. It has a brass nut, bridge and tailpiece as well as brass position markers in the side of the neck. The body is mahogany with a book-matched figured exotic wood top. Fretless and left handed versions were available. The head stock Alembic logo and Stanley Clarke signature is gold plated sterling silver. Controls are a master volume, 2 tone filters, 2 2-position Q filter switches and a pickup pan pot. |
