- acoustic guitars
Dates of manufacture:
Aria introduced the John Joyce signature models in the mid 1970s. These were designed by 12 string British folk and blues player John Joyce. Joyce was also responsible for the design of Aria's popular Sandpiper model, although according to Paul Brett, Aria never credited Joyce for his work on the Sandpiper.
The John Joyce model was available as either a 6 or 12 string. The design was a result of Joyce's long experience of playing and restoring early American country-blues acoustic guitars. You can see the traditional influence in the slotted headstock and narrow waisted body shape - like one of the old Stella acoustics. The guitar had mahogany back and sides and a pyramid bridge. The slotted headstock has JJ logo.
In 1981 they sold new for £189.90 for the six string version and £205.90 for the twelve string version. Secondhand these guitars might fetch upwards of £600 depending on condition.
