Wolfgang Amann was born in 1961. He learned to play the guitar as a teenager and took lessons in classical guitar playing. He took  a carpentry apprenticeship from 1987 - 1990 followed by a guitarmaking apprenticeship from 1990 - 1992. Since 1995 he has been self employed in his own workshop in Dinkelsbuehl. In 1998 he passed his examination for a mastercraftsman's diploma.
