The Japanese Bambu guitar was designed during the late 1970s in consultation with Alembic and manufactured by the Chushin company. The scarcity of traditional hardwoods for guitar necks made fast growing bamboo an attractive alternative - the Bambu guitar had a laminated bamboo through-neck design.
