Yngve Barslev (1912-1979) was a Danish archtop guitar maker. He began making handmade guitars before World War II. During this period it was impossible to get American import guitars and Barslev guitars became popular. Resumption of imports after the Second World War caused a decline in popularity of Barslev instruments, as the quality did not quite match the top American archtops. The 1950s saw a surge in the popularity of electric guitars, which Barslev did not offer - although his acoustic archtops were available with a floating pickup. Yngve Barslev also made archtop mandolins and mandolas.
