Tom Bedell started Bedell Guitars at the age of 15. Tom’s father had business connections in Japan and helped Tom arrange a contract with a Japanese manufacturer to build his acoustic guitars. By the age of 18 Tom had grossed $500,000 in sales of the Japanese made acoustics and had two music stores. Tom then went to college at Stanford University and gave up the guitar business. Years later, after a career in the fishing industry, Tom retired and bought the Two Old Hippies music store in Aspen, CO, and got back into the guitar making business. The higher end series guitars from Bedell are handcrafted in Bend, Oregon, USA. Bedell Guitars will only source tonewoods that are reclaimed, salvaged or singularly harvested. Bedell Guitars vows to never knowingly use clear-cut or illegally logged timber and one of the Bedell team will personally check out each wood supplier to make sure they are legitimate.
