Don Bell of Bell Custom Guitars began making guitars in 1974 when he was 18 years old. He was inspired to make his own flying V version of Dan Amstrong's plexiglass guitar. Bell has been working to improve his acrylic guitars ever since and his current models have a central core of wood with acrylic wings which act to compress the sound giving a long sustain with more focused tone.
