Big Wave acoustic guitars are made by luthier Rob Dmitrieff. He has 30 years of experience in woodworking starting as a craftsman in the historic ship building industry in Maine. In 2006 he was working alongside Nick Nikos Apollonio (a master guitar builder) who gave him the idea to build his own acoustic guitar. Dmitrieff followed the book  ‘Guitar Making Tradition and Technology’ and was soon making outstanding acoustic guitars. Apollonio also referred Dmitrieff to David Hill  who sawed & supplied tops for many Maine guitar makers and Dmitrieff began helping Hill out. Eventually Dmitrieff started selling tops as well as making braces for other guitar companies. Dmitrieff concentrates on five guitar models: the small jumbo, dreadnought, the 1906 parlor, OM (orchestra model) and the jumbo OM.
