Charvel used the Charvette brandname on Korean made budget guitars, beginning around the late 1980s. As the popularity of the super-strat style of guitar began to wane in the 1990s, the Charvel name was applied to these lower quality budget instruments and the Charvette brand became increaslingly pointless.
