Decibel Guitars was founded in 2009 by Darren Wilson in Toronto, Canada. Wilson's introduction to guitar making began in the late 1980s when he took a course at The Tweltfh Fret in Toronto under luthier Gordon Barry. Since then he has been seeking out experienced luthiers (like David Myka, Jim Soloway and Mike Sherman) prepared to share their knowledge and skills, and has been continually refining his electric guitar designs. The first Decibel prototype, made in 2009, was nearly 20 years after Wilson's first electric guitar.
