The Dell'Arte brand was established by Alain Cola - a French Jazz guitarist living in the USA. Dell'Arte Selmer and Maccaferri style guitars were originally made in Mexico by Luis Sevillano until Alain Cola went into partnership with American luthier John Kinnard in 1998. Production transferred to the USA in 1999 where the Dell'Artes were made until around 2005. From around 2005 onwards Dell'Arte guitars were imported from outside the USA.
