Emerald guitars is an Irish brand producing cabon fibre body acoustics and innovative custom designs. Run by Alistair Hay who got the idea to build a carbon fibre guitar in 1994 while working for Seebold Racing in St Louis. He made the first carbon fibre guitar in 1998 and set up Emerald Guitars in 1999. Several models were launched in 2001 the X10, X20 (original model) and X30 but by 2007 their unique fretboard design became unavailable resulting in the closure of Emerald Guitars. Alistair restarted the company in 2009 with a new Emerald range and continues to expand - now selling direct to customers who can design their own custom guitar on the Emerald website.
