Information:

Granada guitar maker Francisco Manuel Diaz was born in 1942 and apprenticed with Eduardo Ferrer, making his first guitar in 1958 at the age of 16. Diaz also studied under Manuel de la Chica  in the early 1960s before establishing his own workshop in 1965. His instruments are particularly popular with flamenco guitarists. Diaz himself is an accomplised flamenco player with a deep understanding of the needs of this type of player. He also builds cajones and castanets. His current guitars combine various elements from Jose Ramirez I, Torres, and his own designs using German spruce tops and with locally grown cypress back and sides. His workshop is located on the street which leads to the Puerta de las Granadas near the Alhambra and Diaz uses cypress grown in the Mirador de la Reina garden inside the Alhambra Palace.
