Fantom guitars and basses were made by Matsumoku in Japan for the Arai (Aria) company. Fantom guitars were low priced copies of Fender and Gibson designs - for distribution within Japan. Targeted at beginners with a price of 30,000 to 50,000 Yen, they used birch and nato with bolt-on neck construction.
