Futurama guitars were made in Czechoslovakia and later Sweden for the UK distributer Selmer. Selmer also distributed Hofner instruments and the Futurama line was supposed to be a cheaper alternative to the Hofners. The first Futuramas (circa 1958) were made in Czechoslovakia by the Drevokov Cooperative (Resonet), from 1959 they were made by CSHN. In 1963 manufacture of the Futuramas was moved to Hagstrom in Sweden to improve the quality of the instruments.
