Greg German trained as a Medical Illustrator before moving into 3D computer and character animation work on games. At this time he started making vintage-replica guitar amplifiers and also building furniture. Eventually Greg quit his job and started an apprenticeship in Edward V. Dick's repair shop. For several years after the apprenticeship, Edward and Greg collaborated to make a line of steel string flattop guitars under the name Victor Guitars. German now has a large basement workshop in his house in Broomfield, Colorado where he makes and repairs guitars - specialising in acoustic archtops.
