Gianluca Ceccarini studied ethnomusicology in university and developed a passion for the study of musical instruments - in particular non-western instruments and those used ancient western music. In 2004 he met Carlo A. Cecconi, a specialist in the construction and restoration of plucked instruments for early music, and began to spend time at his workshop where he learned the construction techniques and history of these early instruments. In addition to the construction and restoration of instruments for early music - lutes, Renaissance and Baroque guitars, vihuelas etc. -  he also builds classical concert guitars.
