Information:
Greg Smallman (born 1947) makes classical guitars with his sons Damon and Kym at the Smallman workshop in Esperance on the south coast of Western Australia. Smallman has been collaborating with John Williams since the late 1970s to develop the guitars Williams uses for performance and recording. Smallman's designs are innovative: using a thick, high, arched and carved rosewood back. The tops is made of light western red cedar and uses a unique system of bracing with a lattice framework of balsa wood and carbon fibre. Smallman has always been open to sharing his ideas - he did not patent the lattice bracing invention and so it has been adopted by many other guitar makers.
