Achim-Peter Gropius apprenticed as a guitar maker on leaving school. From 1991 to 1994 he trained at the violin making school in Mittenwald and then worked for Luthier Max Strohmer in Nuremberg. In 1994 he moved to Reutlingen to work for a master violin-maker. He finally opened his own workshop in Reutlingen in 1996. He passed the examination as a master luthier in 1998. He makes steel stringed acoustic guitars but his main focus is classical guitars.
