Wayne C. Henderson makes acoustic guitars and other stringed instruments in Rugby, Virginia. Henderson's guitars are inspired by pre-World War II C.F. Martin guitars, and are hand-built in limited quantities. In a 1995 White House ceremony Wayne Henderson received a National  Heritage Fellowship Award in recognition of his extraordinary luthiery talent. The book Clapton's Guitar: Watching Wayne Henderson Build the Perfect Instrument (2005) documents Henderson building a guitar for Eric Clapton. In 2008 he was the subject of an Appalshop documentary, From Wood to Singing Guitar.
