John Ramsay manufactured handmade acoustic guitars and the Acoustic Cradle, a hardwood guitar stand. J. Ramsay Fine Guitars was based in Riverside, California and the website was active from 1998 until 2005. Ramsay acoustic guitars had a signature four and two headstock for easier tuning. Their lengthened scale from nut to saddle, aimed to enhance tone. Each had a decoratively bound ebony fretboard which could be customized with a variety of position markers; from simple dots to  abalone or mother of pearl. Each had an  inlayed back stripe and matching soundhole rosette.
